Reviews
A genuinely useful tool! I quickly found a practice partner, we rehearsed typical questions and tough cases together. Prep was efficient and low-stress — and it ended with an offer! Huge thanks to the creators; the bot really helps build skills and confidence before interviews. Highly recommend! 🚀
Thank you 🙏 It really helped with prep and landing a job 🔥
An absolute gem! 🔥 Saved my interview prep. Studying alone is hard; with a partner it feels like a real interview. We drilled algorithms, debated architecture, and fixed each other's mistakes. I felt much calmer walking into the employer meeting. Result: offer received! If you're tired of prepping in a vacuum — try it! 🙌
Great bot! Helped me find a partner for IT interview prep. Studying together was far more effective, and I passed the interview and landed a job. Thank you ☺️

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most popular questions about the IT‑Career‑Gym platform
IT‑Career‑Gym is a platform for IT professionals and employers: it matches you with a partner for mutual mock interviews, offers quizzes on technologies and languages, a participant rating, and job and resume postings. It runs as two interfaces over shared data — the website and a Telegram bot.
You create a request: pick a direction (IT or a foreign language), a specialization, your own grade and the grade range for your partner. The system looks for a counterpart request that suits both sides and, once a pair is found, shows the contact in your account on the website (My subscriptions). You may also get an email or Telegram notification depending on your settings. You run the interview yourselves — time and format are up to you.
Click "Register" in the top menu, enter your name, email and password, and pick a role — specialist or employer. A confirmation code is sent to that address. You can also sign in with Telegram, in which case no password is needed.
No — Telegram is not required. Registration, partner search for mock interviews, vacancy matching, quizzes and the leaderboard all work on the website. When a pair or vacancy match is found, you see it in the header bell and in your account (My subscriptions, Match history). You can link Telegram in your profile for messenger alerts — it is optional.
The rating is the sum of points from quizzes, pet projects and matches. More practice moves you up. Reviews do not affect it.

FAQ
Price, Stepik vs our guide, signup, and what to do after a course.
The IT Career Gym guide on this site is free. The two architecture courses are on Stepik — price and access live there. On this platform you can open the list, find a mock partner, and take quizzes without buying a “course pack”.
The guide is how to run a paired mock: IT section, languages, a walkthrough checklist. Stepik hosts full courses on System Design and the C4 model. Different formats — we do not glue them into one “learning path”.
You can read the on-site guide and open Stepik without an account. Finding a mock partner or taking a quiz on IT Career Gym needs registration.
Do not leave it as a “read later” tab. Find a partner on the match page or run a quiz. System design sticks when you explain the diagram out loud.
Not yet — we do not draw empty cards for those roles. Security, FDE, and hiring are covered in the blog. If another real course appears, it will land in this list.

The question
Generating one image with a diffusion model means evaluating a large neural network tens to hundreds of times. That repetition is where the energy goes, and it is part of why data-centre demand is now visible at grid scale: the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory puts US data-centre electricity use at 176 TWh in 2023, 4.4 % of national consumption, a figure that more than doubled since 2017 largely because of AI servers, and projects 325–580 TWh by 2028. Emerging hardware attacks exactly this primitive: analog in-memory computing, silicon photonics, ferroelectric devices and stochastic computing perform the underlying matrix–vector products at lower energy than digital CMOS, under conditions on scale and precision, but return a perturbed result. The usual objection is that nobody can say in advance how much perturbation a model tolerates. In EMMA, this opportunity is pursued through a PCM-based photonic matrix–vector engine as the primary demonstrator, complemented where appropriate by FeFET-based analog computing, so that device-level non-idealities are treated as explicit design parameters rather than as after-the-fact implementation losses. Diffusion models are an unusual case in which that question has a mathematical answer: their convergence theory bounds the discrepancy between the generated and target distributions by three terms, of which only one, the L 2 error of the learned score, depends on the hardware. That side is now in good shape: for stochastic samplers, bounds linear in the dimension under minimal assumptions on the data; for deterministic samplers, a matching theory under regularity. What is missing is the bridge. The theory is parameterised by a score error, the hardware literature by conductance noise, effective number of bits and photons per multiply–accumulate; nobody has written the map between them, in either direction. The quantisation literature for diffusion models reports image-quality scores; the induced L 2 score error, in the form the convergence theory needs, is directly measurable and goes unreported. One open sub-question sets the direction: the distinction between an error redrawn at each evaluation, as in stochastic computing, and an error frozen at write time, as in deterministic quantisation, has been settled in one setting only, and not the one hardware lives in; carrying it over is what this position exists to do. The work is judged on one concrete outcome. For at least one architecture, we want to show that theenergy gain from moving the score evaluation off digital CMOS is real, measured where it survives integration and not extrapolated from a single tile, and that it is paid for by a loss in sample quality that is small and, above all, tunable: a knob the designer sets, whose position the theory predicts rather than discovers afterwards.
What you will do 5
The work is organised in four packages, summarised below; the full research programme is available from the supervisors on request.
1. Make the score error measurable, starting from Gaussian targets where the whole error decomposition is closed-form. You will report the induced score error for a given perturbation of the network’s arithmetic, the number the theory needs and the quantisation literature does not report.
2. Map device physics onto the theory. Propagate the published error models for the technologies INL works on through the score network into an explicit score-error budget, separating what is proved from what is measured.
3. Extend the guarantees. Existing bounds assume a deterministic oracle, or a benign randomised one; extend them to error that is part frozen at write time and part redrawn at each call, and settle, on the way, which process the score error should be controlled along.
4. Co-design with INL, and deliver the proof of concept. Turn the score-error budget into an energy– accuracy frontier for INL’s PCM-based photonic matrix–vector engine, using device-calibrated circuitlevel models; a FeFET-based analog alternative may be considered where appropriate. Jointly vary sampler steps, stochastic bitstream length and effective precision to identify an operating point predicted to yield a real energy advantage over digital CMOS at a small, tunable loss in sample quality. The result is a frontier predicted from mathematical and hardware models, then verified against calibrated measurements.
A clear negative answer is more useful to us than a vague positive one: a negative result on point 3 leaves points 1 and 2 intact and turns point 4 from a prediction into a measurement.
Who we are looking for Required
- A PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, machine learning, electronic engineering, computer science or a closely related field, obtained (or with the defence scheduled) before the start of the contract.
- A strong foundation in probability and stochastic analysis, numerical analysis, optimisation, or machine learning: SDEs, Girsanov’s theorem, time reversal of diffusions, with the ability to apply it rigorously to diffusion or other generative models.
- Familiarity with the convergence theory of sampling algorithms, or the demonstrated capacity to acquire it quickly, for example through Langevin/MCMC analysis, optimal transport or concentration of measure.
- Solid scientific computing (PyTorch or JAX), and the habit of writing code others can run. Ability and motivation to work across mathematical modelling and hardware-aware AI.
- Working English; French is not required.
Valued, not required
Prior work on diffusion or score-based generative models; numerical analysis of finite-precision arithmetic. Familiarity with hardware-aware machine learning, approximate or stochastic computing, analogue in-memory computing, device modelling, circuit simulation, photonics, ferroelectric devices, or energy modelling. Experience linking model accuracy or robustness to implementation non-idealities, such as quantisation, noise, drift, variability, finite precision, or correlated errors. Evidence of interdisciplinary research, for example work at the interface of mathematics, machine learning, devices, circuits, architectures, or electronic-design automation. No hardware experience is expected or needed to apply.
What matters most
We are seeking a researcher who wants to explore how to turn physical constraints into mathematical and architectural design parameters. The project does not require prior laboratory hardware experience: INL provides device expertise, measured characteristics and modelling infrastructure. However, the successful candidate must be prepared to engage critically with non-ideal analog, photonic and ferroelectric accelerators, and to work with both supervisors to connect device-level error mechanisms, score-error guarantees and the energy–quality trade-off of diffusion-model inference. Candidates with a primarily mathematical background and strong curiosity for hardware are welcome, as are candidates from AIhardware, device-modeling, circuit, architecture or EDA backgrounds who have the stochastic-analysis maturity needed to develop the theory. The decisive criterion is the ability to make the mathematics and hardware inform one another, producing predictions that are quantitative, testable and relevant to an energy-efficient accelerator demonstrator.
What we offer 5
- A real double supervision, with weekly meetings that alternate between ICJ and INL. The two laboratories are on the same campus, five minutes apart on foot.
- A question publishable on both sides: mathematics journals for the theory, design and hardware venues for the co-design.
- Involvement in INL’s design–technology co-optimisation work through the PEPR Électronique CHOOSE project, and contact with the group’s ferroelectric and photonic device work (FVLLMONTI, Ferro4EdgeAI).
- Support for conference travel and open-access publication, funded by the two host laboratories, and the career-development measures the establishment provides for post-doctoral researchers.
- Practical help for international recruits through Espace ULYS, the EURAXESS service centre for Université de Lyon: visas, housing, health cover, banking, schooling.
Conditions
Twelve-month fixed-term contract under French public law, full time (1 607 h annual reference), 25 working days of annual leave plus the RTT days of the establishment’s scheme. Affiliation to the régime général for health and to IRCANTEC for supplementary pension; employer contribution to complementary health cover under the scheme in force at the establishment; 75 % reimbursement of publictransport season tickets, up to the statutory ceiling. The exact number of RTT days is set by the establishment.

Find a mock interview partner
Step-by-step partner matching for a practice IT or language interview
IT‑Career‑Gym helps you find a partner for a practice interview: pick a track (IT or languages), specialization, your grade, and the grade range you want. The system searches website and Telegram requests and notifies you in the account bell when a pair is ready.

Quizzes

IT‑Career‑Gym
Daily challenges
Three tasks for today. Tomorrow a different set: quizzes, matches, resume, a pet project or a referral.
IT‑Career‑Gym?

Reviews
An absolute gem! 🔥 Saved my interview prep. Studying alone is hard; with a partner it feels like a real interview. We drilled algorithms, debated architecture, and fixed each other's mistakes. I felt much calmer walking into the employer meeting. Result: offer received! If you're tired of prepping in a vacuum — try it! 🙌
A genuinely useful tool! I quickly found a practice partner, we rehearsed typical questions and tough cases together. Prep was efficient and low-stress — and it ended with an offer! Huge thanks to the creators; the bot really helps build skills and confidence before interviews. Highly recommend! 🚀
Great bot! Helped me find a partner for IT interview prep. Studying together was far more effective, and I passed the interview and landed a job. Thank you ☺️

Telegram.
IT‑Career‑Gym?
